Let's meet an ethnic minority of Russia - the Yakut who live in the coldest inhabited of the Earth. We will get to know their culture, get to know the locals and hear their life stories and concerns about Global warming. Global warming isn't felt much for us, but it is already very palpable and visible in the Russian Arctic.

Time codes:
0:00 Welcome to the Far North!
2:10 What is the "warm" temperature for the Yakut people?
3:47 How does the coldest city function during winter?
7:05 What winter activities do locals have here in Yakutsk?
9:22 Ice bathing. See - See I told ya - in the really cold places they go, "Oh OH is 5*C - is hot - lets get in bathers and bikini and go swimming in the heat wave with the ice bergs on the beach....

I have SEEN people doing that...

Only this is WAY colder - Minus 70 in winter = minus 35 = heat wave...

Hooo Hooo I told ya so... It's true.

I think the ice house on the ice, on the river, with the swimming hole cut into it, is a good idea to provide shelter by stopping WIND CHILL if a storm blows in..

And why I like to watch some videos many times, is because there are details that are easily missed.

For instance - they glue extra windows over their car windows, to make double glazing, because it helps to keep the cold out and the heat in..

Go to 6:30 to see it...

And touching windows that are -70*C will cause skin to freeze to it... so.... double glazing the windows is a smart thing.

The cars front windscreen - at 8:35 was double glazed - you can see the silicon sealant glue lines around the edges...
